With only two weeks remaining in the 2024-25 NBA regular season, we officially take part in stretch runs, with pictures of the league playoffs being shaped. Almost every team and fan are paying attention to the rankings at this point. We intend to bring you the most updated place for where everything is every day until the end of play on Sunday, April 13th.
Thunder earned West’s No.1 seed and home court advantage in at least the first three rounds of the playoffs last week, as he held 60 wins in the season. The Cavaliers maintain the lead of the second Celtics in the East. The Knicks became the Eastern third team to score a playoff spot thanks to the Hawks’ defeat on Friday.
The Western Thunder spot is safe, but the second seed race is worth watching over the next few weeks. The Rockets, Nuggets, Lakers and Grizzlies are all fighting for their second place and have been tied up in the rankings since early March. The sixth (final guaranteed playoff spot) race in the West also kicks into high gear as the Warriors, Clippers and Timberwolves look to the spot.
In the East, the 10 teams making the postseason probably know, as the 76ers, raptors and nets appear to be focusing on lottery tickets rather than trying to make play-in tournaments. The Hawks, Magic, Bulls and Heat are expected to become East play-in teams in 2025. In the West, the Suns are about to win a final postseason spot.

As a reminder: The top six teams in each conference will automatically earn spots in the 16 playoff fields. The final four playoff spots will be determined by a play-in tournament featuring 7-10 at each meeting. The seventh-ranked team hosts the eighth-ranked team and has the seventh-ranked seed. The loser of that game will face the winner of the game between the 9th and 10th place teams of the 8th seed.
The East developed a clear top six with just a few weeks remaining in the regular season, but the Timberwolves and Clippers want to track the Warriors and Rockets in the West.
