The African Development Bank Group will work with the African Union Committee to host a high-level side event at the 2025 International Monetary Fund and the World Bank’s Spring Conference in Washington, DC. The event will present a report titled “Measurement of Green Wealth of Africa’s Natural Capital and Economic Productivity.”
The report was adopted on November 14, 2024 during a conference with African heads of states on the bystanders of the World Leaders Summit at the 29th Conference of the Parties to the 29th United Nations Framework Convention on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). The event explores the importance of properly assessing Africa’s green wealth and integrating the value of these services into the national accounting system. It also aims to build strategic partnerships, increase investment in the wealth of continental countries, and promote coordination and advocacy to develop continental and global support to mandate its inclusion in reconstruction of gross domestic product.
