An unofficial start will begin on Monday when the NFL’s legal tampering period, when teams are able to begin meeting or consenting with free agent players.
However, 32 teams in the league did not get a memo on Sunday as a snow avalanche fell with a surge in re-signatures, extensions, trades and cuts. Here is the complete list of notable moves just in case you may have missed some of the actions.
Notable NFL Transactions on Sunday
The Buffalo bill re-signs QB Joshu Allen to a six-year, $330 million contract, with $250 million guaranteed. Extension of 5-2018-2018-2018 The Los Angeles Rams have signed a two-year, $46 million contract with WR Davante Adams. The Seahawks re-signed LB Ernest Jones IV to a three-year, $33 million contract and re-signed the Seattle Seahawks to a three-year, $25 million contract.
Don’t struggle any more, separate Sunday action into winners and losers.

Miles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns
Both Miles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns got what they wanted on Sunday. Garrett, the 2023 defensive player of the year, huffed and sighed to sit down the game if he wasn’t trading with his competitors, but ultimately got the payday for the record setting he was looking for. The 29-year-old is currently the NFL’s highest salary non-quarterly in terms of average annual salary ($40 million) and bond ($123 million).
The Browns have locked up defensive cornerstones for up to 35 2030 season. This will bring zero to quarterback on the second pick in the draft and will not even consider drafting Penn State Edge Rusher Abdul Carter. Plus, Garrett’s presence should be able to at least have an average defense for the new rookie who will start QB.
DK Metcalf
Metcalf wanted from Seattle after it was clear they were rebuilding. He soon gained hope, as well as receiving the biggest contract in Steelers history, totalling ($150 million). His contract averages $30 million a year, tied to the fifth-highest person in the league among receivers, and he can line up on the other side of another wide receiver who can scare George Pickens’ defense on the other side. A relatively open look and a lot of cash are heading towards Metcalf’s way. That’s a big victory.

Mike McDonald and John Schneider
The Seahawks have five picks in the first two days of the 2025 NFL Draft. One round pick, two second picks (one from Metcalf trade), two third round picks (one from quarterback Geno Smith’s trade to the Las Vegas Raiders). The reconstruction is being held in Seattle, and when it’s loud and clear, it usually gives the structure (head coach and general manager) extra time to understand things and develop young players due to low expectations. Head coach Mike McDonald and general manager John Schneider may have reset their watch to work security in 2024 after their first year 7-10 campaign.
Davante Adams and the Los Angeles Rams
Wide receiver Davante Adams needed an even better year to solidify the Pro Football Hall of Fame case, and the first team All-Pro of the three-time first team wanted to compete for the Super Bowl ring in the process. After signing with the Los Angeles Rams on a two-year, $46 million contract, he was paid at the age of 32, and he became a ring chase.
The Rams were the closest of which team to knock off Super Bowl Lix champion Philadelphia Eagles in the 2024 postseason? Adams and Puka Nacua feast the east attacks of Coach Sean McVay, catching a pass from Matthew Stafford.
Aaron Jones
Aaron Jones is a 30-year-old running back and turns 31 in December, but he still has a nice payday. He re-signed the Minnesota Vikings on a $13 million deal on Sunday on a two-year, $20 million deal. This is more than twice the one-year, $7 million contract he signed with the Vikings in his last offseason after being released by the Packers. Jones thrived in Minnesota’s offensive ecosystem, sprinting through career-high yards in a single season (1,138) and producing carry (255).
The sum of these two shows that in his mind the Vikings can rock the injury bug in order for Jones to become a productive RB1 at his age. However, he won that deal despite being significantly worn out as the season progressed. He averaged 5.2 yards per carry in his first six games last season and 4.1 yards in the Vikings’ final 11 games. Jones cashed in on a contract that was almost guaranteed throughout his 32 seasons. It’s not bad at all for a running back.
Holding the No. 1 pick, the Titans are likely to have Abdul Carter on the board, and are now able to breathe easily if they could fall third with the New York Giants. That’s because the Browns solidified their edge rush spot by re-signing Garrett on Sunday. Cleveland certainly focuses on quarterbacks. This adds to the heat of wanting to trade Giants’ desire for the number one if you prefer Miami’s Come Ward over Colorado’s Chedure Sanders in QBS.
Tennessee has a need in the edge rush after cutting Harold Landry, but now they stock up on draft picks with tradedowns and get the guy on their third overall pick.
loser
In addition to Mika Parsons, Jammer Chase, Tee Higgins and Trey Hendrickson, the agents must have been popping bottles of champagne after a big jump in the positional market on Sunday.
Parsons, a 25-year-old three-time all-pro, is able to request an average annual salary extension of at least $40 million from the Cowboys, and can’t even blink after Garrett, a senior four years ago.
Hendrickson turns 31 in December, but he is the fifth player to post consecutive seasons with at least 17 sacks, with his 17.5 leading the league in 2024. Either Bengal or another team must ultimately pay for his services.
Metcalf, who turned 28 in December, is older than both Chase and Higgins, and his root tree is less diverse than both the wideouts of today’s Bengal. Nevertheless, he received a five-year, $150 million extension from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both Higgins and Chase are set to earn cash after their Sunday action.
All of these players could have been expanded by the team last year. It would have saved a lot of money and cap space for both organizations. However, both front offices were passive, allowing the rest of the league to drive the market in these position groups.
Team with cap space
Many players have completed transactions to stay on the team, and some big deals have already happened. This gives the team a huge chunk of cap space like picking at left bars for the New England Patriots ($113.3 million in the league’s best $113.3 million per Overthecap.com), the Los Angeles Chargers ($83.3 million) and the Arizona Cardinals ($74.5 million). Certainly, open markets have options, but many of the top guys are gone. This means that such teams with holes and plenty of cap space can overpay talent and punts, leaning harder into the draft, and potentially bringing in a variety of results.

Cody Benjamin
Aaron Rodgers is a loser after Sunday for several reasons. One is two potential landing sites that evaporated for him. The Las Vegas Raiders needed a quarterback but chose to trade for Geno Smith. The Seattle Seahawks were an attractive destination for Rogers along with Jackson Smith Nuzigba, Tyler Rockett and DK Metcalf inside the building. Now there are no more rockets, metcalfes and more, and Seattle has revealed they are rebuilding. That’s not what Rodgers wants to do with the 41.
Secondly, he lost the chance to finish his career on the same team as longtime teammate Davante Adams. They are just behind Payton Manning and Marvin Harrison (Colts and 114) and Steve Young and Jerry Rice (92 49ers). Adams signed with the Rams because he could be following Rodgers for the Giants, Steelers or Titans. It’s not Rogers’ landing point as Matthew Stafford is back with the Rams.
On Wednesday, Rams general manager Les Snead was called wide receiver Cooppacpping, who played for Los Angeles in 2025, and had the “most unlikely” option after placing him in the trade block before this offseason.
With the Rams signed Adams, it’s clear that after they acquire another skilled veteran in his position, they are ready to move on from Kupp.
Phone Miller
The Buffalo Bills are re-signing everyone: quarterback Joshu Allen, wide receiver Halil Shaquil, Edge Rush Gregory Russaw and cornerback Terrell Bernard received new deals this offseason. However, Miller was cut on Sundays than the 36-year-old season.
Not only has he lost some big money, he will now have to wait for the first few waves of free agency to be signed before he can understand the 2025 NFL home.
