Real Madrid defeated Atletico Madrid in a Champions League penalty shootout, setting up a Champions League quarter-final clash with Arsenal again.
After Atletico won 1-0 in the night and left a tie in the tally after an extra time, real defender Antonio Rudiger scored a decisive spot kick in a 4-2 shootout after two Atletico players missed.
Marco Lorente’s shot hit the bar after Julian Alvarez slipped and the var check ruled that Argentina touched the ball twice, and then refused to allow a penalty strike.
Atletico coach Diego Simeone had not seen the double touches by Argentine International in the replay, but said, “If Val intervenes, I want to believe it’s because they saw something.”

“It’s not easy to see that. It was a bit unlucky for them.”
Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak added: “Of course it hurts. We had a great game, but unfortunately we were a bit unlucky. That’s a shame. It hurts so much.”
The Real went through a tense derby, which ended 2-2 in tally after an extra time. Atletico led 1-0 after 90 minutes at Wanderdam Tropolitano Stadium, canceling a 2-1 advantage in Realms from last week’s first leg.

Real Madrid also defeated Atletico in a shootout, winning the 2016 Champions League Final. This is part of a winning streak that eliminates city rivals for the fourth year in a row.
