The possible cause of death of Gene Hackman Dog has been revealed
Released on March 14th, 2025 at 5pm PDT
According to the New Mexico Animal Control Agency, the dog was found dead along with Gene Hackman and his wife… died from a lack of food and water.
Jinna, the Jean and Betsy Arakawa kelpie mix, may have died of dehydration and starvation, according to necrosis obtained by the Associated Press.
The report says the Santa Fe County animal control agency pointed out that the dog’s stomach was empty, except for a small amount of bile and hair.
Necrosis also reportedly eliminated infections, trauma and poisoning as potential causes of dog death.

It’s not so surprising that the dog hadn’t eaten or drunk…the poor dog was found dead in a bathroom closet crate inside the house where Jean and Betsy’s bodies were also found.
As we reported… the cause of death of the gene is heart disease, advanced Alzheimer’s disease… and Betsy died after being infected with Hantavirus, a rare virus spread by rats and mice.
The official timeline says it is likely that Betsy died on February 11th and Gene died on February 18th. And authorities believe he didn’t know she was dead at home due to his Alzheimer’s disease.
