Chad Johnson says Ja’marr Chase’s wallet looks like it’s going to be very thick… tells TMZ Sports that he’s confident that Cincinnati will offer a new “North” deal of $40 million a year!!
Of course, Chase has been searching for a redo contract from the Bengali for a while… but since he’s officially entering his final season before free agency, Johnson says his fat payday is near.
Ochocinco says if the Bengalis had accomplished it before this past season, they could have paid him about $30-35 million per season. But now, after he leads the league for yards, catches and receives a touchdown, he expects it to be much more.
“They decide to wait, he wins a terrible triple crown and now you have to pay twice as much,” he said. “The price yesterday is not today’s price.”
On the Bengals’ side, they seem to have been resigned to chasing big guys – player director Duke Tobin told media last month he was totally hoping to make him “the number one paid non-quarter in the league” this year.
As for Chase’s teammate Tee Higgins, Johnson says he’s hoping for a zero soon for his younger wideout salary.
“I want him to get something fair,” said Cincy legend. “You won’t receive a discount for your hometown on your first contract.”
