The PGA Tour flagship tournament will enter the final round as the world’s best players go through 54 holes in the TPC Sawgrass and then 54 holes in the 2025 Players Championship. Just a month before the major season begins, the final 18 holes in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, will determine who has the momentum to head towards the 2025 Masters.
It certainly would be an interesting viewing experience, as bad weather pushed (and together) players’ Sunday tee time. The golfers head out into the trio in the rounds starting with the first and tenth holes of TPC Sawgrass to complete play before bad weather arrives.
Almost certainly, Scotty Schaeffler doesn’t feel waves on his back. Schaeffler, the player’s two-time defending champion, will be in Sunday’s final round, sitting on seven strokes by 54-hole leader JJ Spaun. Schaeffler wanted to become the first golfer in the tournament’s three-peat history. Instead, he will focus on becoming the first golfer to go back to Augusta National since Tiger Woods from 2001 to 2002.
Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa were two other prominent names in the competition throughout the first three rounds. Only McIlroy kept that position, sitting four shots behind Spaun, kicking out the 77 on Saturday and pushing him behind the top of the leaderboard.
Although Tiger had hoped to fit the players, he would not only choose not to play in the tournament, but the 15-time major champion announced that Achilles’ surgery, which burst on Tuesday, would prevent him from protecting him indefinitely.
After 54 holes, for those still participating in the tournament, gander the player championship wallet and prize distribution when the play ends on Sunday.
While participating in players is a dream for many, it’s an incredible treat every year to be able to see events live from home or in the office. We at CBS Sports are excited to bring wall-to-wall action throughout the week. I’ll talk about it quite well. Here’s how you can see many of the 2025 championships on Sundays as much as you can:
