Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney praised the “great show of humanity” from visiting supporters and Wycombe after fans suffered from medical incidents during a game in the third tier of English football on Saturday were confirmed to be recovering at the hospital.
The team chasing the promotion met in League One Crash at Adams Park, but the game was stopped for nearly 45 minutes with a score of 0-0 in the 77th minute after a medical emergency at the away end.
A statement on Wrexham’s website on Sunday provided fans with updates and said, “We can see that supporters who were in a medical emergency in their match against Wecommbe Wanderers are recovering in the hospital… Everything at Wrexham wants to support their best wishes for recovery.
“We also thank everyone at Wycombe and thank the staff for their prompt action and for their response to the incident and for their clear communication.”

McElhenney also thanked Wycombe staff and supporters for their help.
“As more information comes to light, it’s becoming more clear that our supporters, Wycombe staff and Wycombe supporters worked together to save someone else’s life,” McElhenney said in an X post.
Wrexham won 1-0 and moved Wycombe to second place, with nine games left in the season.
Wrexham, owned by Hollywood celebrities Ryan Reynolds and McElhenney since 2021, is looking to secure a third straight promotion to take part in the second tier championship. The team will be another promotion, moving away from one of the duo’s ambitions, Premier League play.
