Sir Kiel met a group of military leaders from the UK’s “rejoiced coalition” on Thursday
Kielstama’s plan for international forces to support a ceasefire in Ukraine was dismissed as “position and pose” by Donald Trump’s envoy.
Steve Witkoff said the idea was based on a “simple” concept that the British Prime Minister and other European leaders consider “we’ve all become Winston Churchill.”
In an interview with Trump journalist Tucker Carlson, Witkov praised Vladimir Putin and said he “loved” the Russian president.
“I don’t consider Putin to be a bad guy,” he said. “He’s very smart.”
Witkov, who met Putin 10 days ago, said that the Russian president was “graceful” and “straight” with him. Putin told him that he prayed for Trump after an attempted assassination against him last year. He also said Putin delegated the portrait of the US president as a gift, and Trump “was clearly touched on it.”
In the interview, Witkov repeated various Russian debates, including Ukraine being a “fake country,” and asked when the world would recognize the occupied Ukrainian territory as Russians.
Witkov leads US ceasefire negotiations with both Russia and Ukraine, but he was unable to name five regions of Ukraine annexed or partially occupied by Russian troops.
He states: “The biggest problem in that conflict is these four so-called regions: Donbass, Crimea, you know the names and there are two others.”
Five Regions – or oblasts are Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporisia, Carson, and Crimea. Donbas refers to the industrial area of the eastern region, including many of Luhansk and Donetsk.
Witkov made some uncontested claims that were not true or true.
He said Ukrainian forces in Kursk are surrounded by Ukrainian forces, which have been denied by the Ukrainian government and are not tolerated by open source data. At various times, there was only a referendum on some of the occupied parts of Ukraine, and the methodology and results were widely trusted, and the conflict stated that four partially occupied adult-resistant species speak Russian. Ukraine has many Russian-speaking parts, but this does not show support for Russia.
In February, Witkov (first from left) attended a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov (first from right) and Putin’s foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov (second from right).
Witkov also repeated the points of several Kremlin stories about the causes of the full-scale Russian invasion. He said that from a Russian perspective it was “right” that partially occupied territory was now part of Russia: “There is a constitutional issue with what is permitted within Ukraine about giving up territory. The Russians control these territory.
He said, “There is a sense in Russia that Ukraine is just a false country, and they simply patched it together with this kind of mosaic, which in my opinion is the root cause of this war, and that Russia considers these five regions to be legitimate since World War II and that no one wants to talk about it.”
Putin has repeatedly said that the “root cause” of his invasion is a threat posed to Russia by the expanded NATO and the pure presence of Ukraine as an independent nation.
Witkoff said in an interview with Tucker Carlson: “Why do they want to absorb Ukraine? For what purpose they don’t need to absorb Ukraine… They’ve reclaimed these five regions. They have Crimea and do they need more?”
Witkoff was asked about Kiel’s Starmer’s plan to build a “ambitious coalition” that would provide military security assurances to postwar Ukraine. [British wartime prime minister] Winston Churchill. The Russians are scheduled to march all over Europe. By the way, that’s ridiculous. There’s something called NATO, and I didn’t have it in World War II. ”
He said the Black Sea ceasefire will be “implemented next week or so” from the 30-day ceasefire, and “we’re not far away.”
He also detailed how Trump would like to work with Russia after relations were normalized. “If you don’t want to have a world where Russia and the US are working together to do good, are you thinking of ways to integrate energy policies into the Arctic, share ocean lines, send LNG gas together to Europe and work together on AI?”
Look: I say that in order to ensure “lasting” peace, security arrangements must be in place
