Final: Florida defeated UConn 77-75
How Florida Won: Dan Hurley said “someone’s going to have to beat us” to win the third straight national title after his victory in the opening round on Friday, before the UConn Husky finished the tournament. On Sunday, Walter Clayton Jr. was proven to be someone. Clayton scored 10 points in three minutes, turning the 59-58 Florida deficit into a 77-75 victory, securing a 13-game tournament streak between Sweet 16 and Snap UConn. Clayton didn’t make the first bucket of the game until 15 minutes had already passed, but once he got hot he couldn’t stop. He finished with 23 points (leading all scorers), including 15 points in the second half, draining all three-point attempts in the process of the second half. Clayton’s 3 with 2:54 left was a dagger, erasing a two-point UConn lead. Florida never looked back. – David Hale
