ATLANTICS, NJ – Dwight McBee’s experience as a nurse and father has had a major impact on his professional career. His daughter suffers from Rett syndrome, a rare neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by a progressive loss of motor and speech abilities, and was interested in improving the patient’s experience.
“We’re excited to be able to help you get started,” said Senior Vice President and Chief Patient Experience Officer, RWJ Barnabas Health, New Jersey’s largest healthcare system.
Stockton School of Business Dean Warren Kleinsmith was on the left along with Dwight McBee, who won an MBA with Stockton in 2016.
McBee, who earned his MBA from Stockton University in 2016, spoke to a group of students on Thursday, March 20th at the university’s Atlantic City campus as part of Business Dean’s renowned guest speaker series.
In his role as Chief Patient Experience Officer, he works to improve the patient experience and implement strategies that are further aligned with RWJBARNABA’s goals and values.
The main focus of McBee’s presentation revolves around “Principles of Career Distinguishing” and encourages students to use their unique experiences to promote their careers.
“When you want to be the best, you have to see what you do and what you want to confuse,” he said.
McBee thanked the mentors and faculty members of the business schools that were present. He emphasized the value of personal experience and education.
After completing his Bachelor of Arts in Nursing from Thomas Jefferson University, McBee received his MBA from Stockton. When asked what prompted him to go back to school, McBee explained that “MBA is the key to the skeleton of your career.”
McBee also works for the RJW Barnabas Patient Experience Policy Board. Addressing the transition from nursing to business, McBee noted that he didn’t feel his career field was out of reach and that everyone had the ability to adapt and learn regardless of his background.
After McBee’s speech, Stockton School of Business Dean Warren Kleinsmith presented McBee with a trophy to celebrate his achievements and professional success.
