The African Union emphasizes an order for all stakeholders to escalate the situation and support the spirit of a revitalized agreement on the resolution of the South Sudan (R-ARCSS) conflict and letters.
The African Union urges all parties to exercise maximum restraint, refrain from actions that could exacerbate tensions, and engage in constructive dialogue to resolve unresolved issues through peaceful and legal means. The happiness of the people of South Sudan must remain a top priority, and all efforts must be directed to ensure an environment that will last aid in peace and development.
The African Union is in solidarity with the people of South Sudan and has repeatedly unwavering support for the full and timely implementation of the peace agreement. In this regard, the AU is ready to work closely with local and international partners, including the South Sudan government, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and Intergovernmental Authorities on Development (IGAD), promoting domestic stability and comprehensive governance.
The Chairperson calls on all parties to recommend the principles of dialogue, cooperation and respect for human rights as the essential pillar of peaceful and prosperous South Sudan. The Chair will deploy the Wise to Juba AU panel as part of an effort to eliminate the situation.
