Katie Taylor has reached a time when most fighters retired for a long time.
It will be 39 days before she stepped into the ring for a monumental trilogy battle with Amanda Serrano at Madison Square Garden.
Taylor is already a sport legend. Olympic medalist, Irish superstar and lightweight, super lightweight, uncontroversial world champion, bringing back her only professional defeat.
Taylor admitted that his retirement was on the horizon.
“You obviously have one fight at a time. I know I can’t do this forever and I don’t want to do this forever. I don’t want to take a punch for the rest of my life. But here I am preparing for another huge thing,” Taylor told Sky Sports.

“The fire hasn’t disappeared. I keep in mind that we will lift women’s boxing again.
“I know I have what I need to work well. I have it all and feel like I’m getting better and better with each performance, so I can’t wait to step into it.”
Taylor first boxed Serrano in Lightweight in 2022, winning the split decision. They had a rematch at AT&T Stadium in Texas in November for Taylor’s WBO, WBA, WBC and IBF Ultralight Championships. The Irish star has repeatedly won, but both contests have been persuading them to watch.

They will take their third counterattack at Madison Square Garden on July 11th.
“I’m so happy to have the opportunity to fight again. I was able to make another history. I’ve always wanted to be involved in the biggest battle possible. This is a huge, huge battle. At the end of this performance, I’m very excited. I’m more determined than ever.
“It’s amazing to see them [viewing] It’s the numbers, and this is exactly what I want – a big battle for the whole world to see what female fighters are capable of and stimulate the next generation of fighters. This is exactly what it is. These privileges are in this position, and we have these opportunities, and we have all of them on the line again.
“I hope it will be another incredible performance and another incredible showcase of women’s boxing.”

Taylor is confident that she can continue to deliver top-class performances, even at this stage of her career.
“It definitely feels so good at the moment. It obviously does one fight at a time, but after the final battle I knew I was ready for another fight, and that’s about adaptation and adjustment.
“I think I have a very clever team around me. We train very, very, very hard, but very clever. That’s what I’m in this position too. I’m still at the top of the game. Next time I step into the ring, I’ll be 39.
Taylor backs Ryan in Mayer’s rematch
Taylor is in Las Vegas, with sparring partner Sandy Ryan, and Britton is in a rematch with Michaela Mayer.
Mayer and Ryan will be fighting for the WBO welterweight World Championship and will be performing live on Sky Sports Action starting midnight on Sunday mornings.
Taylor himself is a study of how to succeed in a rematch. She won her second battle with Chantelle Cameron, Delphine Person and Serrano.
“For me, I definitely have the ability to adjust. I’m very determined too. When I lost to Chantelle Cameron, I took off Sunday and then headed back to the gym preparing for that rematch,” Taylor said.
Katie Taylor discusses the second victory rematch against Michaela Mayer and Sandy Ryan’s chances
“When you suffer a loss, you think there’s an extra fire. You learn a lot from the loss too. That’s where all the growth happens. You’re forced to sit down and think about things a little more.
“He’s the one who wants that most on Saturday night,” she added. “I think Sandy is just a round, perfect fighter. She’s a great fighter and a great boxer. She’s very versatile. Her jabs are great, her counter punch is amazing.
“I shared a sparring round and round with her, a big reason why she won the rematch with Chantelle Cameron. It’s an incredible part of my preparation and I’m always grateful for the round she gave me.
“When she’s in form, I don’t think anyone is going to beat her on a fight night.”
