Star Rev. John Gray III is responding to Marvin Sapp’s Viral Church’s request for donations – telling the congregation to approach the door until he coughs $40,000 – and he says culture and context matters.
John tells TMZ… Marvin is his good friend and he saw worse donation requests at other churches.

Pastor Gray says that people who weren’t involved in the service understand why Marvin is upset with the way he tried to raise money – asking everyone in the crowd for $20 – and he tells us why culture and context are excluded from the conversation with the sole favor of optics.
