Four people died in Russian drone attack on Dnipro

Four people were killed in a mass Russian drone attack on the central Ukraine city of Dnipro, and another 19 were injured.

Serhiy Lysak said the restaurant complex and several residential buildings had burned up after the attack on Friday.

He said “the enemy sent over 20 drones to the city,” and “most of them were shot down.”

Images and videos later appeared, indicating that firefighters were working on a major fire swallowing Hitville, destroying glass and other debris scattered across city streets.

Overnight, air sirens were heard in several other Ukrainian regions, including the capital, Kiyykh. It was not immediately clear whether there were casualties or not.

The Russian military has not commented on the issue.

In his video speech, Ukrainian President Voldimia Zelensky once again accused Russia of targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure — violating a temporary suspension agreed earlier this month in talks involving the US.

Moscow has also repeatedly accused Ukraine of attacking the Russian energy sector.

Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested earlier this week that Ukraine should be temporarily placed under UN control to elect what is called a more “competent” government.

It was seen as the latest attempt by the Kremlin to challenge the legitimacy of the Kiev government. This is a move that has been widely criticized by Ukrainian allies.

Ukraine accused Putin of proposing a “crazy” idea to slow further movement into a ceasefire deal defended by US President Donald Trump.

On Tuesday, Washington said both sides agreed to a limited ceasefire in the Black Sea.

However, Russia has since submitted a list of conditions that includes lifting some Western sanctions, urging concerns that Moscow is trying to derail the movement towards a ceasefire.

In another development, French President Emmanuel Macron said Thursday that France and the UK are “suggesting a plan for security forces” in Ukraine.

The proposal was discussed at a summit in Paris, “All-Wish Alliance” – the summit of more than 30 Ukrainian allies.

Russia has repeatedly warned that the deployment of European troops in Ukraine is unacceptable, and such forces would be considered legal targets by the Kremlin.

Russia began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and Moscow currently controls about 20% of Ukrainian territory.
