England’s Charlie Hull will be second in the final round of the Ford Championship in Arizona, two shots behind American leader Lilia Vu.
Hull matched VU’s 4-Under-68 in the third round, which took place in difficult and windy conditions on the whirlwind golf club’s cat’s tile course.
She bogeyed herself after she stabilized herself, dropping one more shot after three putts on the 14th, picking up six birdies, including two in the closed three holes.
“It’s what it is and it’s not something that isn’t, but it’s nice to finish off with a birdie,” said Hal, who made it to an underper of 16.
The LPGA Tour winner Vu, who also struggled with the situation as he reached a tournament record of 18 under with 54 holes.
Completed the opening two rounds without dropping a shot, she bogeyed the holes in the sixth and ninth, and made a double bogey card in the troublesome 14th place, but came together to close with three consecutive birdies.
Elsewhere, all three players who began the day with Hal at age 12 have collapsed. Danish’s Nanna Korsz Madsen came in third after reaching 15 after 69 rounds.
She was joined by Japanese Ayaka Frue who shot a 67.
Thailand’s Atsaya Chitickle fired a 70 and joined a powerful group of five at 14 under, while world number one Nelly Korda drastically separated on one par 73 to leave seven shots from the lead.
