An Illinois teacher was accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old student, and it is said she was mentored. The prosecutors have faced sexual encounters in the classroom, prosecutors say.
Christina Formera first met with her students in 2023 when she was a freshman soccer coach at Downers Grove South High School… according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

The document says he began personally coaching the suspect’s victims after he broke his collarbone. Prosecutors say Formella gave him a number so he could play “8-ball pool” over the phone. The pair was later said to have exchanged provocative texts, followed by a facety-time meeting between students and hormones.
According to the documentation, the teacher and her students began to feel emotions about each other. It came to my mind one day in December 2023, when I met in a school classroom before class began. Prosecutors say Ferla shut the door and began kissing the victim. They were both said to have taken off her leggings, and he wore a condom and had sex with Ferla. He was 15 years old and she was 28 at the time, prosecutors argue.
The document says that both later admitted to each other that what they did was wrong, never had sex again, and last spoke in February 2024.
Officers say the student’s mother found a fierce text message on her son’s phone and reported it to the police station that launched a criminal investigation that led to Zerola’s arrest the following day on March 16, 2025.
Prosecutors charged Ferlera with aggravating criminal sexual abuse and criminal sexual assault. Formella is currently on administrative leave from school.
