World No. 1 Luke Humphries has been “severely criticized” for hoping to take a break from Darts due to his busy schedule, says Mark Webster of Sky Sports.
The 2024 world champion said he was left “emotionless” by his merciless schedule.
World No1, who played in his 11th tournament since the turn of the year at the German International Darts Open, described the packed calendar as a chore, suggesting that he had hit his mental state as he openly spoke about his struggle with anxiety.

Humphreys’ comments sparked a backlash on social media, with fans accusing the 30-year-old of being separated from the real world. He then posted an emotional response to criticism.
Webster told Sky Sports: “Humphreys is just expressing his feelings, and obviously his comeback is, ‘Oh, you’re getting this, you’re number one in the world’ – that’s part of the game, but it doesn’t mean you don’t have a small rut in a place that you don’t feel like playing. ”
Wayne Mardle talks about the amazing form of Littler and the price of Gage, although he fears that certain players will face the world champions.
Preparing for both the evening of the event in Manchester this Thursday at 7pm, Premier League champion Lu Kritler sympathized with Humphries.
“I agree with Humphreys,” said Webster, the 2008 Lakeside champion. “I think he’s going to have to manage his schedule a bit. Littler backed him up too.
“They play a lot of darts. I think they get criticized because they sometimes do personal work. And people say, “Don’t do that, don’t focus on your bread and butter.”
“Every player really needs to manage their schedules. Those who weren’t in the Premier League have a little more freedom, but it’s a tough slogan for Premier League boys to go to the Pro Tour.
“For Humphreys, I think it’s just the Premier League focus, perhaps at that moment, and I think everything else will fall into place for him, so I don’t think there’s anything to worry about.
“I think he’s been criticized in some way. He’s just making you feel like he’s. You can still struggle with the game, regardless of your world no..”
