McLaren’s Randnoris set the pace in his most representative first practice session at Bahrain Granpurin.
Norris went 0.238 seconds ahead of Alpine’s Pierre Guthrie, while Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton was 0.596 seconds later than Norris, and Williams’ driver Alex Albon came in fourth.
Albon narrowly avoids a collision with other Williams Luke Browning after a misunderstanding while Browning was on a flying lap, and stumbles into Albon’s car when he turned 12 on the entry.
As Albon was trying to get out of Browning’s path, they both headed in the same direction, but avoided the crash.
Six cars were not driven by regular drivers as the team met the requirement to run younger drivers twice a season.
To further reduce the relevance of the session was the fact that the qualifying and race were run under sunlight at a temperature of 35C while the qualifying and race began at Twilight.
Haas driver Esteban Ocon is fifth fastest from Nico Halkenberg of Sauber, Jack Douhan of Alpine, Liam Lawson of Racing Bulls, Red Bull of Yuu-Zunoda and Oscar Piastri from McLaren.
World champion Max Verstappen was one of the drivers sitting in the session, while Ayumi Iwasa drove the car and finished 19th.
Browning was 13th, while Sweden’s Dino came in 14th with Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari.
Felipedragavich, who was looking at the grandstands on the Albon Brawinning incident, was 16th in Aston Martin at Fernando Alonso, ahead of Haas’s Rio Kanakawa, after being announced as a spare driver earlier this week.
Frederick Vesti was ranked 18th in George Russell’s Mercedes. Mercedes race driver Andrea Kimi Antoneri was the slowest of all after experiencing engine problems.
