General Sahil Mirza, chairman of the Islamic Republic’s Chiefs of Staff Committee in Pakistan, describes Nigeria as a pillar of regional power and stability on the continent.

Mirza made a statement during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Hasan Abubakar, former s at Nigerian Air Force (NAF) headquarters in Abuja.

This was included in a statement held in Abuja on Friday by the Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF, NAF, NAF and NAF.

He said Nigerian troops continue to show strength, pride and influence both within and outside of Africa, adding that Nigeria is more than just a country.

According to him, Pakistan appreciates the professionalism and resilience of the Nigerian military and deeply respects Nigeria’s role in promoting peace and security in the region.

He said the visit highlighted enduring defence cooperation between Nigeria and Pakistan, and shared experiences in counterterrorism, peacekeeping and strategic capacity building.

Mirza has exhibited Pakistan’s defensive capabilities, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), trainers and fighters, and anti-aircraft systems, and has extended a formal invitation to Nigerian air chiefs to visit Pakistan for ongoing strategic dialogue.

In his remarks, Abubakar of Aviation acknowledged Pakistan’s important contribution to Nigeria’s aviation power development.

He said the NAF has benefited greatly from its defense partnership with Pakistan, particularly in areas such as pilot training, aircraft acquisitions and logistics.

The CAS also highlighted a wide range of opportunities in Nigeria, including respected military training institutions that can provide valuable benefits to Pakistan.

He expressed his keen interest in deepening cooperation in pilot training, research and development (R&D), and aircraft technology, affirming Nigeria’s commitment to independence through innovation and international partnerships.

Both leaders reaffirmed their shared vision for stronger bilateral defence connections.

The main topics discussed included the continued engagement of aircraft platforms such as the JF-17 Thunder and Super Mushshak, which are the centre of Nigeria’s modernization goals.
