MILANO – US midfielder Weston McKenney is one of 13 soccer players being investigated for illegal online bets in Italy, according to extensive media reports.
The new investigation by prosecutors in Milan comes from evidence from Sandro Tonari and Nicolo Faguioli in 2023. He then agreed to a bargain that also included treating gambling addiction, and then left them out for most of last season and placed a long ban on them.

Juventus midfielder Fagiori, now on loan at Fiorentina, has been banned for seven months since he admitted to betting on the match, but Newcastle’s Tonari has been suspended for 10 months, including his bets, including team matches.
The duo has also been named in a new survey along with Fagiori’s then-Juventis teammate McKenney, along with nine other or former Serie A player, Leeds defender junior Furpo.
There is no evidence that other players have ever gambled in soccer matches, but their names stem from the analysis of deposition and devices given by Tonali and Fagioli.
Weston McKenney joined Juventus in 2021.
Players are being investigated for using illegal platforms for online poker and betting on other sports. So they do not risk the ban and instead receive a maximum fine of 250 euros ($284).
Tonali and Fagioli have been accused of promoting those sites among their teammates and other football players.
Fagioli said in his deposit: “I pointed it out [former Aston Villa forward Nicolò] On illegal sites where Zaniolo can place online bets, roulette and poker… The site organizers said that if they brought in other bettors, they would give me some advantages. ”
A message about Zaniolo, found on Fagioli’s mobile phone, also said, “Bravo, catch him and work for me.”
