Tariffs and prices… everything is the best mind for most Americans right now – and this topic has informed me of a live sketch of Saturday night, April 12th several times.
Sketchstar host John Hamm and cast member Ego Nwodim may not understand the bond market but as a financial show host who knows “Put to Back!” from “Sure, Baby” who definitely knows the price of Candy Bars, “Normal People”
“Check out the S&P 500, which has dropped by 2.38%. Nasdaq composites have dropped by 265 points, and Dow Industrials have dropped by,” reads Anchor Kenneth Albright (Hamm). “Okay. Does that mean something to anyone?”
“I’m sure it means something to someone, but it sounds like it means a lot to me,” agreed his co-host Tasia Walton (nwodim). “Let’s look at boxed mac and cheese up 4.5% to $1.59.”
“Oh, even on the other side of the street?”
“Even across the street, Kenneth,” she confirmed.

Their colleague David Hayes (Kenan Thompson) joins in tips to save money, such as buying generics and locals. “For example, I sometimes like Perrier Water from France,” Thompson says. “Instead, I’ll drink this American version of Uncle Bubble, which is made from pure Tennessee tap water and costs just $1.89.”
“I also love Digiorno’s frozen pizza, but I’ve been offering a high price recently, so I’m eating Devonte for now,” he continues. “This delicious alternative was created by my cousin Devonte. He makes pizza from mysterious bread and ketchup! Remember, it’s not delivery – it’s Devonte.”

Business News checks are sponsored by Chipotle Napkins and Taco Bell. Their catchphrase: “Taco Bell: Should Meat Cost More Than Gum? Don’t worry!”
Viewers respond to SNL’s “Check to check business news”: “I felt this sketch.”
The morning after the Hamm show, one of the most viewed sketches on SNL’s YouTube channel, commented, “This may be the most realistic sketch ever. I’ve never heard of it.”
“His suit coming from Coles is something that has something to do with it and feels like a personal attack,” another joked.
“As a blue-collar baby, I felt this sketch,” another YouTube commenter wrote.
The SNL Instagram commenter shared, “The ketchup packet and the stock ticker scrolling through the bottom with 7-11 takitos was nice,” and loved the details of Dead On.
