Rory McIlroy took home one major championship that escaped him through his illustrious career on Sunday with the Masters – officially completing his grand slam – and Tiger Woods congratulated the latest member of one of golf’s most prestigious clubs!
The 49-year-old golf legend got his X account shortly after McIlroy drained a birdie putt on the 18th green on the first playoff hole. Not only did he win the Green Jacket with his 17th Masters appearance, he also completed a golf grand slam, and did so for the first time since Woods in 2000.
RM won the US Open in 2011, the 2012 PGA Championship (and ’14), the 2014 Open Championship, the PGA Championship, and now Masters in 2025.
“Your resolve throughout this round, and this whole journey, reveals, and now you’re part of history,” Tiger writes. “I’m proud of you!
Welcome to the club @mcilroyrory. Complete a Grand Slam in Augusta is special. Your resolve during this round, and this whole journey, has been revealed, and now you are part of history. I’m proud of you!

Sadly, because of Woods he was unable to play in the tournament. He tore Achilles in March during training, marking the first time since 2021 that he missed the event for the first time since the same year that he suffered from a brutal car wreck.
For those lucky enough to be in Augusta, it was an emotional scene for 35-year-old Rory… after securing the victory he stopped by his news.
As he proceeded towards Butler Cabin to fit a green jacket, he shared a long hug with his wife, Erica Stoll – almost a year after temporarily filing a divorce from her.
McIlroy also concluded his congratulatory speech, sharing an emotional moment with his 4-year-old daughter Poppy, saying, “I will never give up on your dreams.”

“Back back and continue working hard. If you put your heart on it, you can do anything. Love you.”
Congratulations, Lori!
