In 2024, the Gambia exported a total of 3.4 billion darashi. In 2024, the transfer was $775 million (55 billion salmon) and tax revenue was 20.8 billion salmon. Therefore, remittances support the Gambian Darasi, while taxation promotes the Gambian budget.
With the current global trend towards reducing funding institutional support, countries like the Gambia need to return to the drawings to discuss ways to protect exports, non-tax revenues and remittances currently threatened by the intolerance of developed countries’ emerging anti-immigrant governments.
It should be reaffirmed once again that recycling domestic assets is a path to more dependence in the future. It does not lead to self-reliant self-dependent and self-determined development. Therefore, the government should be careful.
