Real Madrid legend Marcelo said the club cannot amortize as they attempt to overturn a 3-0 deficit against Arsenal in Game 2 of the Champions League quarterfinals on Wednesday.
The stunning free-kick pair helped Arsenal stun Stammadrid at the Emirates last week, climbing the side of Carlo Ancelotti. However, Marcelo, who won five Champions League titles in Madrid, said there was no task too big for the club.
“Real Madrid can never be amortized,” Marcelo told ESPN in an interview in Mexico on Monday. “Three goals are many, but I’ve always been thinking about Real Madrid and I believe they’ll come back. Real Madrid is Real Madrid and they’ll always come back.”

Marcelo will be performing in Mexico this week with other former Madrid and Barcelona players at the club’s legendary Classico.
“The return leg is in the Bernabeu, and fans push hard and players are sure that it can happen. Of course we don’t know what will happen.
Marcelo added that the victory is in the DNA of Real Madrid players, as they were taught from the moment they were wearing their shirts.
“From the moment we joined Real Madrid, I think we were taught not to give up. It’s always in our blood,” he said. “It’s been like this for so many years, and apart from DNA, it’s tough work, humility, daily dedication, and support for the fans. It’s all part of making things work.”
