Huawei Intelligent Africa Summit 2025 was held at Marrakech
Gitex Africa under the theme of “amplifying intelligence in New Africa.” In the third edition, Gitex shined a powerful spotlight on artificial intelligence (AI) and digital innovation, highlighting the turning point of technological transformation in Africa. In this dynamic, Huawei’s summit aims to explore ways that AI can help promote inclusive and sustainable development and shape the future of the continent.
In his opening speech, Shenley, president of Howay North Africa (North, West, Central Africa), highlighted the need for an integrated joint approach.
This call to action resonated strongly with Lacina Koné, Director and CEO of Smart Africa. He said, “Let us make our roots, in policy, in people, in partnerships, so that Africa can be more resistant to the winds of AI change.” His remarks highlight the demographic benefits of Africa, noting that over 70% of the population is less than 30, bringing the creativity, adaptability and resilience essential to piloting the AI revolution.
To further strengthen this strategic vision, Mounir Soussi, Vice President of Huawei in North Africa, highlighted the market opportunities offered by a customer-centric approach in the rapidly evolving digital age. He said:
It promotes customer-centric intelligence across the continent. ” His perspective emphasizes that at the heart of these transformational initiatives is their commitment to bringing concrete benefits to the community and business.
The Huawei Intelligent Africa Summit has highlighted the role of a robust new infrastructure as the backbone of Africa’s AI journey. In a dedicated session, Ahmed Talaat, CTO at Huawei Cloud Northern Africa, explained: This strategic focus on integrated cloud solutions is designed to bridge digital splits and provide the secure and scalable infrastructure needed to support emerging AI applications.
One of the key pillars of the theme of the summit, New Value has come to life through powerful testimony by Mariuane Akrab, head of the digital centre at Attijariwafa Bank. He said, “After laying the foundation for effective governance and centralized data, Attijariwafa Bank began a strategic shift to transform data into a real performance lever. This second phase was characterized by an increased power of analytical tools, data use, and an increase in the culture of teams using Data & AI. His remarks clearly show how the strategic use of data and AI has created measurable impacts and is unlocking performance improvements, particularly in the financial sector.
