Thousands took them to the streets across the United States on Saturday to protest recent actions by President Donald Trump.
The demonstration, known as “50501”, as “50505, 50 states, 50 states, 1 movement”, was intended to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the beginning of the American Revolutionary War.
From outside the White House and Tesla dealers, and from many city centres, protesters expressed various complaints. Many people called for the return of Kilmer Abrego Garcia, who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador.
Political protests are becoming more common in the US as early April’s “Hands-Off” demonstrations attract large crowds.

Saturday’s protests addressed Government Efficiency (DOGE), a Trump initiative to cut US government employment and other spending, as well as many Trump actions that do not want to bring back Abrego Garcia, a citizen of El Salvador.
Gihad Elgendy told CNN he took part in a protest at the White House to criticize Abrego García’s deportation. He believes Trump could “put easy pressure on him to bring him back to El Salvador.”
Although the protest was generally reported as peace, Democrat Suhas Suhas Subramanyam faction posted a video to X, a man holding a Trump sign, pushing the crowd forward to confront him in anger.
Many demonstrators carried signs with the words “king” nodded on the anniversary of the country’s beginnings of the revolution against English rule.
During the Battle of Lexington and Concord and the anniversary celebration in Massachusetts on the famous horses of Paul Revere, people held similar signs. There was also a 50,501 demonstration in Boston on Saturday.
“This is a very dangerous time in America for freedom,” Thomas Basford told The Associated Press, telling the Associated Press in Boston along with his partner, daughter and two grandchildren. “I wanted to learn from the boys about the origins of this country, and sometimes we wanted to have to fight for freedom.”

The latest vote from Gallup suggests that 45% of voters will approve Trump’s performance in the first quarter of his term. This is more than 41% approved in his first administration over the same period.
Still, below the 60% average first-quarter rating of all presidents elected between 1952 and 2020, Trump’s popularity appears to have slipped away, especially when it comes to the economy. When he took office in January, his approval rating was 47%, according to Gallup.
His approval rate in the recent Reuters/Ipsos poll fell to 43%, similarly, from 47% on inauguration day. In the same poll, only 37% approved performance in the economy, compared to 42% during their inauguration.
Hundreds of thousands of Americans have gathered for the biggest national show of opposition since Trump returned to the White House earlier this month.
These protests, which were bigger than Saturday, took place in 1,200 locations in all 50 US states.
