The following statement can be heard this morning by Rep. Mark Burke, a spokesman for the DA on finance, in front of the Cape Town High Court, an emergency court application to stop the DA’s emergency VAT increase. Recordings of this morning’s event can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/live/7qfdb9dnt2c.
Some of the media may have seen the DA vote as the largest party in South Africa at the moment. It seems like the right moment to quote young Bob Dylan in the cape wind and the latest vote.
They are in a changing age. Part of this change has to do with the ANC’s claims.
We are here today. He says he is against that path. We oppose this anti-growth, anti-work, and poor VAT-based budget.
We oppose the weakness and bulldozing budgets that lead to further poverty by taking money from those who can’t afford it and giving it to those who don’t know how to use it.
I oppose the bullying budget. This opposes that it leads to loss of hope when more young people realize they are poorer than their parents.
We oppose bleeding budgets that lead to more South Africans.
We oppose blind and failed budgets that will make it more expensive to reach the small work that remains within our borders.
But I want to be clear: we are not against viable budgets as DAs.

We do not oppose the budget for that and under any circumstances.
We lend support to a budget that focuses on:
1) Infrastructure Investment
2) There are no new relief
Such a budget received our support until the ANC decided to run through Tone’s hearing impairment budget for our joint inputs made in our advice and sincere.
And the DA has gathered an exceptional legal team sitting in front of the bench of praised judges, but such a victory so far only gets us, as we pray for a favorable ruling in court.
Ultimately, politicians need to stab privileged Pipepreme plans and outdated ideologies. They need to see the scale of the problems our people are facing.
So I would like to say to someone making a decision in the ANC under the Soviet sand where they stabbed their heads:
How many years do one party have to have before you can hear people cry?
How many times can you turn your head pretending you’re not watching?
