The 2025 NBA playoffs are officially underway. The Pacers, Nuggets, Knicks and Timberwolves all won Game 1 on Saturday, while the Thunder, Celtics, Cavaliers and Warriors won on Sunday. On Monday, the Pistons tied the series with the Knicks 1-1, and the Clippers did the same in a victory over the Nuggets. On Tuesday, the Thunder and Pacers led the Grizzlies and Dollar in a 2-0 series respectively, with the Lakers evenly evenly the series with the Timberwolves.
The Western Conference is full of interesting first-round matchups this season. The seventh seed and tested warriors in battle are preferred over the second seed, but relatively inexperienced rocket, showing Golden State scored 95-85 in Houston on Sunday. The Lakers were beaten in Game 1 vs Minnesota but responded with far more physicality in Game 2 wins. The 4-5 matchup between the Nuggets and the Clippers was able to go with Nicola Jokic on one side and Kawi Leonard on the other. Game 1 was overtime in Denver, with the Nuggets winning and the Clippers responded with a Game 2 victory as Leonard scored 39.
In the East, our experts hope it will be a first round of tough. On paper, the Cavaliers and Celtics should each be able to take care of their business against the heat and magic, and that’s exactly what happened to open both series on Sunday. The Knicks went for a key four quarter run to win Game 1 on top of the piston, but dropped Game 2. The backspacer reignited the rivalry with a 4-5 matchup, but the pacer is fully under control at 2-0.
But as we learn every year, anything can happen in the playoffs.
