The Cleveland Guardians are apologizing to Boston Red Sox star Jarlen Duran after a heated conflict with fans at the ballpark on Sunday…
The scene unfolded during the seven innings of the matchup… and it was necessary to hold Duran down to the referee and other members of the Red Sox. According to Will Middlebrooks, fans allegedly told Duran “I should have committed suicide when I got the chance.”

Shortly after the final out, Cleveland issued a statement… identifying the fans in question and working with the league on a potential next step.
“We recognize the gravity of the behavior that is in question here and we are taking this nature very seriously,” the team said. “We are apologizing to Red Sox organizations, officials and fans in the area and dealing with the situation.”

Earlier this month, Duran opened up about his struggle with mental health in the Netflix series The Clubhouse: Ain with the Red Sox, and talked about taking his life.
“When you open yourself like that, you open yourself to the enemy too,” he said. “But I have good support staff around me along with my teammates and coaches. This is great.”
Boston manager Alex Cora is pleased with how the situation was handled.
“I think security did a good job with that. I think fans felt like he pushed him past the line, no matter what he said or what was going on.”
Although the fan’s identity is not publicly known… Duran confirmed that he will explode with his Instagram story.
Unless the two teams meet in the playoffs… Boston won’t return to Cleveland this year, but its fans don’t seem to have caught any of the Guardians games in the near future.
