Opposition leader Alexander B. Cummings has sharply criticized President Joseph Boaches for his description of his “weak and indecisive” leadership amid the ongoing leadership crisis in the House of Representatives. In a strongly expressed statement, Cummings accused the president of failing to uphold the Supreme Court’s ruling in favour of J. Fonati Koffa’s legitimacy, and sought urgent political intervention, regaining the rule of law and paying tribute.
“The law is clear. We will remove 37 members and 49 of our elected members,” Cummings emphasized. “There’s no room for misunderstanding. The so-called “majority block” did not have a number that legally removes speaker cofa.
Instead of trying to destroy constitutional procedures, Cummings argued that dissenting lawmakers should focus on securing the necessary votes and following legitimate procedures. He emphasized that if they are determined to change the leadership of the home, it is not too late to pursue a suitable legal route.
However, he pointed out that the more urgent issue was that President Boaches did not mediate political solutions. “The speaker clearly lacks the political support of the majority in the House of Representatives. That’s a political reality. But what the president has failed is here to use his influence to mediate solutions that respect both law and political dynamics,” Cummings said.
He warned that by deliberately disrupting legal and political issues, the government risks deepening national chaos and damaging Liberia’s image of the world stage. “In the meantime, we appear to be in international confusion and the president appears to be indecisive or weak,” Cummings argued.

Cummings also criticised President Boaches Boaches’ public stance following the Supreme Court decision, saying he missed an important opportunity for the president to clearly and clearly commit himself to complying with the court’s decision. “The president should have said without ambiguity that he would respect him and comply with the Supreme Court decision. He did not,” he lamented.
Despite the harsh tone, Cummings argued that there was still an opportunity to resolve the crisis, legally or politically, but emphasized that it must be done quickly and within the law.
“There is still an opportunity for this political and/or legal settlement. I hope that the discussion will take place behind the scenes. It will be in our country’s greatest interest. Not following the rule of law is not an option,” Cummings concluded.
