MONTROVIA – Liberian House leaders on Sunday praised President Joseph Nyuma Boachey and his administration for what was said to be “uncontinuous efforts” to provide concrete development results and important economic relief, providing key governors and nations working on a post-support transition.
In a statement released over the weekend, the House praised President Boaches Boaches’ leadership for securing a groundbreaking $490 million commitment from the World Bank to take on the key pillars of Liberia’s Arrest Development Agenda.
The new funding commitment secured under the World Bank’s upcoming national programme framework (CPF) focuses on expanding energy, aiming to lift power access from 75% to the current 33% over the programme period. Other target sectors include education, agribusiness and digital transformation. This is the area that the home stated is important to restore Liberia’s economic trajectory.
“This commitment by the World Bank is a major boost for Liberia at a critical time,” a House statement read. “Expanding affordable energy access, improving education, modernizing agriculture and promoting digital innovation are not just goals. They are essential to the survival and prosperity of the nation.”
The House also praised the government’s financial discipline, particularly in regards to the acquisition of 256 Earth motion devices known as “Yellow Machines,” for deployment across 15 counties in Liberia. Initially forecast at a cost of USD 43 million, the government successfully negotiated a dramatic cut led by Vice President Jeremiah Kupang Kong, cutting costs to USD 22 million, saving taxpayers USD 21 million.
“This initiative not only protects millions of dollars that can be used for other critical programs, but also ensures that each county receives 19 of the roadwork equipment it needs right away,” House leaders pointed out, pledging to work with the different county caucuses to ensure proper deployment and maintenance.
Acknowledging the long-standing public frustration in the delivery of such equipment, the House urged the Boaches administration to promote the arrival and distribution of machines, saying, “The majority of Liberians have longed for these machines for many years, and this administration has finally been delivered.”
The House also praised the administration’s strategic handling of the relocation of key fiber optic cables in Liberia. Contrary to the narrative that suggests that the government was intended to disrupt connectivity, the House cited the successful completion of the relocation project as evidence of the administration’s commitment to stable and reliable communication.
Additionally, the home welcomed the arrival of Liberia’s first Skylink satellite internet service. Lawmakers emphasized that Sky Link’s high-speed satellite technology will bring transformative benefits to remote villages, including online education, healthcare services, digital banking and access to entrepreneurship platforms across all 15 counties.
“This bold investment in internet infrastructure will close the digital gap, promote innovation and open new opportunities for Liberians, especially in underserved rural areas,” the statement said. “We are encouraging the government to fully utilize Skylink to support key sectors such as health, education and commerce.”
The house also pointed out the visible benefits of the Liberian electricity sector and recognized the new vitality brought by the new management team of the Liberian Electric Corporation (LEC). It was cited as evidence of actual progress, including the Gap Community Electrification Project, a groundbreaking project for the expansion of electricity to Unified Town and Harrisburg District #1, and the construction of two new solar power plants.
House leaders pointed out that the signing of new electricity purchase agreements, coupled with the support of international partners like the European Union to electrify thousands of households in the Southeastern region and the Port of Buchanan, represents a turning point in Liberia’s energy access agenda.
“These initiatives aren’t just about lighting up homes, they’re about inspiring small businesses, driving clinics and schools, and attracting new investments,” the House emphasized, calling on the government to continue expanding and stabilizing electricity supply nationwide.
Recognizing the challenging economic situation, particularly amid the ongoing drawdown of several major donor-funded projects, the House believed that the Boaches administration had stepped up efforts to attract new investments and create jobs.
“The government’s commitment to promoting a lucrative business environment and creating jobs despite the headwinds is commendable,” the House said, pointing to recent trade missions and pitching investments to partners in Arab, European and Asian countries.
In a final memo of praise, the House congratulated Finance Minister Augustine Kupee Ngahuan in the unanimous election as chairman of the Standing Committee of the African Development Bank Governor (AFDB) for its term of office from 2025 to 2026. The committee overseeing the conditions of service for elected officers of the AFDB is important to shape policy for continental institutions.

“Ngafuan’s leadership role in the AFDB is not just a personal achievement. Liberia is an opportunity to help shape the development funding environment in Africa at a time of great opportunity and need,” the House said.
As Liberia moves forward under the arrest agenda, the House reaffirmed its commitment to working with the government, ensuring that the progress made so far leads to improved durability for Liberians.
“We continue to be partners in our country’s journey,” the House leader concluded. “Together, we can ensure today that transformative initiatives will lead to lasting benefits for the Liberian generation.”
Finally, the House pledged its unwavering support for the Boaches’ administration, pledging to enact laws, provide oversight and allocate the necessary resources to promote national change. The lawmakers emphasized that only through sustainable partnerships, honest collaboration and a shared sense of purpose can Liberia completely unleash its potential and realize its longstanding aspirations for peace, prosperity and inclusive development.
