Pressure is on President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government to deal with the worsening public health system, which has become a trap for many deaths that seek many medical procedures.
Concerns have been raised about the state of the country’s public health system, characterized by a lack of basic medical supplies and motivated workers.
This forced the public to purchase gloves and other medications and devices before doctors could participate.
Opposition politician Linda Masarila has launched a petition with the government to deal with the tragic channel with public hospitals.
“We, the citizens of Zimbabwe, urgently called on his Excellency, President Emerson Dambujo Mnangawa, to use the presidential forces to amend Zimbabwe’s collapsed healthcare system.
“Millions of Zimbabweans suffer and die from affordable healthcare, chronic shortages in medicine, unethical behavior by healthcare workers, and worsening public hospitals. More than 90% of their citizens survive through the informal sector and cannot afford private health insurance,” the petition reads.
The shortage of medicines and healthcare provision caused patients to fall into scope, and the majority could not afford private hospitals due to high costs.
