The improvised explosive devices (IEDs) suspected to have been planted by terrorists in Boko Haram have killed several individuals, including women and children, near Ran in the Kara Baaj Regional Government Area of Borno.
According to security and local sources, the attack occurred around 11am on Monday along the Hoonduma axis, about 11km from Rantown.
One source revealed that a vehicle carrying the victim on its way to the Gambalounggala had run through the explosive device.
“It’s not clear how many people died, but four women, six children and several men were killed during the explosion,” he said.
The injured victim was taken to Ran Hospital for treatment.
At present, there are no official statements from the military or police regarding the attack. Efforts to reach Kenneth Daso, a spokesman for Borno State Police Command, failed as he failed to reach his phone line.
