The Russian drone killed at least two people and injured five more in a sustained attack on the city of Odesa, Ukraine, the region’s governor said.
Olev Kipper posted on Telegram that the residential skyscrapers, supermarkets and schools were damaged.
Elsewhere in Ukraine, Mayor Kalkiv said the drones had hit gas stations in the city centre, and explosions were also heard in Smie city.
Russia has not commented on the attack yet.
“The enemy is attacking Odesa with strike drones. There is considerable damage to civilian infrastructure, especially housing,” Kipper posted later before confirming casualties.
“Two people have been killed and five others have been injured as a result of the strike. Medic is providing all the support the victims need,” he said.
City Mayor Jennadi Turkanov said, “The enemy launched another major attack on the city. Residential buildings and civilian infrastructure have been damaged in various parts of Odessa.”
Videos and images uploaded to social media have been uploaded to social media that the BBC has not yet verified, showing an explosion and the building is damaged.
Odesa, a strategically important port city in the Black Sea, has a population of around 1 million. It has been subject to repeated attacks since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
The latest attack comes when the United States signs a contract with Ukraine on the joint exploitation of its energy and mineral resources.

The two countries agreed to establish a reconstruction investment fund to promote Ukraine’s economic recovery from the war with Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this week a temporary ceasefire for the war in Ukraine.
The Kremlin said the ceasefire will run from the morning of May 8 until May 11th.
In response, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andri Sibikha called for an immediate ceasefire that lasts “at least 30 days.”
