Charlotte Edwards claims he has explicitly chosen to move England forward in favor of Nat Cyber Brandt and take over as the team’s new captain.
Sciver-Brunt, who took maternity leave after the birth of his first child, took over as skipper Heather Knight, previously vice-captain.
Knight left the post nine years after England’s 16-0 White Wash Ash defeat, and Sciver-Brunt assumed the role in 259 appearances in all formats to her name.
“It was pretty easy, I was sure it would be a nut,” Edwards said.
“She leads head-on in what she does, she gives full respect to the group, and what impressed me the most is her leadership qualities.
“She’s pretty laidback and is very reserved for one of the best players in the world. Just handing the reins on the day of the match and she’ll do her best.
“It’s her team and she has to move this team forward. She’s very excited.”

Sciver-Brunt was selected as the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year in 2022 and 2023, and is now third in the ICC ODI batting rankings.
She is tasked with rekindling England in nursing the wounds of a massively scrutinized ashes campaign.
“Not only are we losing 16-0, it’s because they didn’t fit well enough, it’s that Australia was better than us,” Edwards said.
“The winter was obvious. I call it the word “F.” But I was very impressed with the standards. They have obviously worked very hard during the period after Ashes. ”
Sciver-Brunt’s time as captain begins on May 21 with a White Ball Series with the West Indies, followed by five T20s and three ODIs against visiting India.

Edwards also argued that Sciver-Brunt’s predecessor, Knight, still plays a key role for England.
“For me, it’s about Heather having fun with her cricket and focusing on her batting. She’s playing the same way she met her,” Edwards said.
“We had a good conversation while watching her role on the team and we also want to see a little more of her bowling.
“She was great around the group. She really does work well with the NAT – they’ve been great friends for years – and I really think I’m going to see Heather Knight win many runs in the coming years.”
