Just a few days after Crystal Palace helped them reach the FA Cup final, Eberechi Eze celebrated another victory – a victory in the online chest tournament.
The 26-year-old England International pocketed the $20,000 (£15,000) prize money that won the Chess.com four-day Amateur Pog Champ Tournament.
Eze, who won a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa at Wembley last weekend, held the FA Cup final against Manchester City, beating American YouTuber Sapnap in the event final.
Eze began playing chess after being taught by former palace teammate Michael Orize.
He told an outside athletic in 2023: “I didn’t start learning chess until Michael came in.
“When I started studying games, I watched such the best chess opening YouTube videos.”
Players had to compete in the group stage to win a championship bracket location.
Citing Eze’s victory announcement on Chess.com, Crystal Palace posted to X: “He can do it all.”
On the pitch this season, Eze scored nine goals and contributed 11 assists in Crystal Palace’s 38 appearances.
The Eagles will bid to win the club’s first major trophy when they compete in the FA Cup final against Manchester City on Saturday, May 17th.
