Addis Ababa, – President Tei Ateke Sulasy emphasized the enduring importance of emulating the patriotism and dedication of Ethiopian patriots.
The President made these remarks as he commemorates the 84th Patriots’ Victory Day at Addis Ababa’s Patriots Memorial Memorial.
During the ceremony, President Tay built a wreath in honor of those who fought for Ethiopia’s freedom.
Among the attendees were Lij Daniel Jote Mesfin, president of the Ethiopian Patriots Association, Defence Force leaders and members, ambassadors and other invited officials.
In his speech, President Tay said that the victory of Ethiopian patriots is a historic position against fascism and colonialism, and serves as an inspiration for resistance to the world.
He emphasized the need for current and future generations to emulate the courage and selflessness of patriots by contributing to the ongoing development of the country.
“Today it is impossible to halt or interfere with Ethiopia’s progress,” he pointed out.
Major General Endalkachu Waldekidan, director of the Defence Force’s Psychological Development Bureau, spoke on behalf of the Defence Force, saying that the Day of Patriots’ Victory is a stern opportunity to honor those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and dignity of Ethiopia.
He also sought greater awareness among the younger generations about the higher prices paid to national sovereignty.
Hilutto Cassau, head of Addis Ababa Culture, Arts and Tourism, stressed on her part the city administration’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening heritage sites.
The Patriot Victory Memorial and its surroundings have been renovated to the area with the aim of continuing to be a proud symbol of future generations, she added.
Lij Daniel Jote Mesfin praised the glorifying efforts around the Arat Kilo area, saying that the revitalized infrastructure has made the holidays more important.
He also called on young people to advance the legacy of patriots by contributing to peace and national development.
