Of the 1.9 million results available, only 12,000 candidates or 0.63% scored over 300.

More than 1.5 million candidates, accounting for roughly 78% of the 2025 Unified Third Entrance Examination (UTME), fell below 200 of the 400 points they received.

The Joint Admissions and Admissions Committee (JAMB), which conducts the annual Computer-Based Test (CBT), revealed this in a statistical analysis published Monday.

Jamb said the candidates’ results will be announced to them later this week.

“A press conference will be held later this week to announce individual results for candidates and to facilitate results checks,” the board said.

UTME is the annual admissions examination for candidates seeking admission to universities, polytechnics and universities of education in Nigeria. This year, the CBT exam was held from April 24th to May 5th.

Pass rate

Of the 1.9 million people (1,955,069) available, only 12,414 candidates or 0.63% of candidates exceeded 300 points, according to JAMB data.

The data also revealed that out of the 400 points available, only 22% or 420,415 candidates scored, over 200.

Approximately 78% of candidates scored under 200 points in UTME.

2024 Comparison with UTME

In 2024 UTME, 24% of candidates scored above 200 and 76% scored below 200.

Results

Jamb said 97 candidates were involved in the testing violation.

He added that 2,157 candidates are currently investigating alleged medical malpractice.

The board said 71,701 candidates were absent and did not participate in UTME.

“People facing biometric challenges are also under investigation, and those who are cleared will be scheduled for testing at designated centres,” he added.

“In addition, some results are still being processed, including results from blind candidates and other candidates in the JEOG candidate group.”

Minor candidates

The review board stated that 40,247 minor candidates were allowed to participate in the exam as “exceptional candidates,” but only 467 or 1.16% of these candidates “meet the UTME defined exceptional competency threshold and achieved scores that still pending performance in the three subsequent stages.
