According to Polish police, a woman was killed and a man was seriously injured in an x-attack at the University of Warsaw on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old Polish man was arrested in connection with what the university calls “a huge tragedy.”
Both victims worked in college. In a statement, the university said the woman killed was a member of staff and the injured man worked in security.
The motive is not yet known for the attack.
Police said the attacker entered the university campus at 18:40 local time (16:40 GMT).
A spokesman for the district attorney said he entered the university auditorium from there.
There was little details about what happened afterwards.
“We express our great sadness and sympathy for our families and our loved ones,” the university president said in a statement.
The president announced that May 8th will be the day of university mourning.
Another Polish news outlet, Gazeta Wyborcza Daily, says the attacker was a third-year law student.
In the aftermath of the attack, Reuters reporters saw the auditorium being driven away when police vans gathered.
The University of Warsaw President said in a statement that May 8 was a day to mourn the facility and called the attack a “huge tragedy.”
“We express our great sadness and sympathy for our families and our loved ones,” the statement read.
