The two appear in court over missing journalist and partner

The two suspects arrested in connection with the loss of journalist Acely Ndrov and his partner Zodwa Mudruli are scheduled to appear at Kwamlanga Magistrates Court in Mpumalanga, SABC News reports. The couple was last seen in Pretoria’s Mamelody in February. The body of a human suspected to belong to a missing couple was found at Rust de Winter in Limpopo. So far, at least five people have been arrested in the incident. National Police Chief Fanny Mesemora confirmed that DNA testing is ongoing to verify the ID, a process that is expected to take up to a month.

Five suspects killed in a Kwazulu-Natal police shootout

The suspect, who had five suspects hoping to kill the couple, was killed in a shootout with police in Mophela, Hammersdale, Kwazulu-Natal, reported IOL. Police spokesman Colonel Robert Net Siunda said the shooting took place in the Mophila area of Mpumalanga town in Hammersdale. Police said they received intelligence about the suspect’s location and tried to intercept the vehicle, but the suspect fired fire and urged police to return the fire. Netshiunda said there has not been a thorough search inside the suspect’s vehicle yet, but three firearms were found in the suspect’s possession. The suspect was linked to the murder of a 66-year-old man who survived a previous shooting in January and the murder of his wife, who was killed in February.

“The fight against child trafficking must start at home.”

The Ministry of Social Development said the fight against child trafficking and abuse must start from home. As part of Child Protection Month, the department is empowering parents and caregivers to protect their children and prevent the exploitation of vulnerable children. The initiative follows public concern over the case of Joshlyn Smith, a young girl who has been missing for more than a year. The mother and two accomplices were recently convicted of temptation and human trafficking. Department spokesman Bathembu Futshane said the Joshlin case was not quarantined, and many similar cases were not noticed and highlighted the urgent need to make the home safer for children.
