The French news channel TV5 Monde has been airing in Mali since May 13th. The company’s broadcast rights have been revoked by the national telecommunications office, Allafrica.fr reports.
The decision was shared in a letter on Friday, May 9, with the reason being a news broadcast on May 3, when TV5 Monde reported on the protesters, demanding the end of the transitional members of the Mali legislative body set up by the ruling forces, and passed a bill to abolish the country’s political party charter on May 12.
Marian Junta had suspended political parties a week ago, citing “reasons for public order.”
Activists took them to the streets to protest the continued control of the military without election, demanding a return to constitutional order.
Mali regulators said the 8:30pm news TV5 report on May 3 was “biased, disproportionate and detrimental and detrimental.”
