…The label claims to be baseless misleading

The SEME Area Command of Nigeria Customs (NCS) has uncovered widespread allegations that it has seized and distributed sacks of poisonous rice, which are said to lead to the deaths of multiple soldiers from Badaguri, Lagos State.

In a statement issued by Isah Sulaiman, Customs Public Relations Officer for SEME Area Command, NCS described the story as “false, misleading and completely unfounded.”

The Circulation Report allegedly confiscated and released rice bags without the owner’s knowledge that allegedly evoked the traditional power that led to fatal consequences.

In response to the claim, Sulaiman asserted that the order strictly adheres to the Standard Operating Procedures of Nigeria Customs (SOPS) for the disposal of seized goods, led by transparency, due process and compliance with legal frameworks.

“The orders I would like to assert that this story is completely false and misleading and does not reflect the reality of the matter,” Suleiman said.

Suleiman further emphasized that there were no incidents among the commander’s jurisdiction or among the personnel supporting the claims of death caused by rice consumption. He denounced those spreading the claims and denounced them for malicious misinformation under the guise of journalism.

“Unfortunately, some uncruel elements wearing journalistic clothing have chosen to disguise the public with unfounded, fictional, and malicious accusations,” he added.

The Seme Area Command urged the public to ignore the forged stories and avoid spreading misinformation that could cause fear or damage the reputation of security agencies.

Under the guidance of Director-General Dr. Ben Olamargo, the commander reaffirmed his commitment to revenue generation, prevention of crowding efforts, and promotion of legal trade in strict compliance with government policies and legal standards.
