Niger police commander says he has arrested three suspects. He raised operatives for the Economic and Financial Crimes Committee (EFCC) to accelerate and robbery students from Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBB) University in Rapay.
On Friday in Minna, a statement from Commander spokesman Sp Wasiu Abiodun, showed that two informants who assisted and betted the surgery had also been arrested.
Abiodun said police received the information on May 13th around 8pm. Four of the suspects said they attacked the student’s off-campus lodge and sought out two students by pretending to be EFCC operatives.
He said the suspect made the students cry with reg and Toyota’s crown car. no. ABJ245CU.
Abiodun explained that police operatives from Rapai Division were immediately mobilized and the suspect was driven to Sleha Road by the Kwakti where he was arrested.
He named the suspect as Emmanuel Linus, 30, of Daedie. Haierda Aliyu, 28 years old, is a nyanya. Abduljarid Tanko of Kal, 33 years old, all from Abuja.
“The suspect was arrested in the vehicle mentioned above, but unfortunately one Alpha James escaped from the scene among the suspects.
“During the interrogation, they confessed that they had been invited to the informant, because this is their livelihood.
“They entered one of the student rooms with three electric tasers held as guns and gathered five mobile phones to aid them,” explained Abiodun.

He said the suspect asked the student to have a total of N10 million and negotiated with N500,000 before being arrested later.
“They also confessed that the ID card used was designed in a shop in Nyanya in Abuja and was designed with the same identification number 1069,” he said.
The spokesman also gave the names of their informant collaborators as Mohamed Hassan and Hamis Adam of Angwan Hausa of Rapay.
He explained that the informant knew each other in Paico about one of the suspects, Emmanuel Linus, the student.
Abiodun said Emmanuel was identified as a fired soldier with a criminal record and was convicted two years ago.
He said further investigations are underway at the state’s Office of Criminal Investigation (SCID) and that the court will be charged with prosecutors immediately after the investigation. (Nan)
