NAIROBI – Former Vice President Rigati Gachagua came out to clarify his comments on post-election violence.
During Sunday’s church service in Gatanga, Gachagua explained that, contrary to interpretation by government officials, it simply warned the chief of the voting agency who was appointed to overturn people’s will in a 2027 poll.
He argued that attempts to manipulate poll results would not be underestimated.
“I want to plead the commissioner who chose President Root as a Kenyan and who chose to be patriotic,” Gachagua said.
“People want change, they are ready for change. Certainly, the mood of the country is, if the IEBC is trying to ruin the election, there is no country here; 2007 will look like a Christmas party,” the former vice president warned.
Gachagua laughed at the comments made by his successor, Kichua Kintiki and Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Marcomen, who bumped into him with his comments in an interview on a popular online podcast.
Speaking during Busia’s sectarian service, the vice president said Gachagua’s remarks were dangerous and reckless.
Gachagua said in return that he and his supporters are always committed to peace and stability.
“Rigati Gachagua is Kenya’s most peaceful man. In the bluffs, some of my supporters wanted to go to town to stop political persecution, but I spoke to them and told them to protect peace.

Ex-DP added: He posed.
He challenged Marcomen to instruct the investigative organs to bring in people who were confusing his meeting for an investigation.
However, Gachagua directly accused President William Root of coordinating the chaotic confusion in the launch of his party.
The former vice president also spoke of several other cases where Goon had disrupted his functioning.
He cited the funeral in Limuru, Kimbu County, where an individual under police escort reportedly attacked him. In another incident, he is allegedly attacked a church event in Nieri County by a fool linked to a prominent Kenyan politician who is said to be alongside Ruto.
He further cited the December 2023 prayer meeting in Nandarua County. There, police allegedly fired tear gas at the crowd.
In January 2024, he claimed that the fool expelled the child from the office that he had leased and operated for five years under police escorts.
