King Charles says that when Britain and France speak at a state banquet for French President Emmanuel Macron, they must unite in the face of “many complicated threats.”
Macron and his wife Bridget are welcomed by the King, Queen Camilla, Prince and Princess of Wales.
The banquet will be the highlight of the trip with famous faces, showcase menus and a message from the king about “shared history and culture between our two people.”
The King’s speech warns of threats in defense, technology and climate change.
“For centuries, our citizens have admired each other, entertained each other and imitated each other,” the king says at a banquet held at Windsor Castle as Buckingham Palace is being renovated.
He warns current risks of “emitting from multiple directions” and “unknown boundaries.”
“Our two countries share not only their values, but also their tireless determination to act in the world,” says the Nation’s banquet speech.
France’s efforts to tackle defense, growth, security, migration and small boats will all be discussed during the state’s visit.
Sylvie Berman, the British French ambassador from 2014 to 2017, said the issue of small boats was difficult, but France is “progressing.”
In response to criticism within the UK that the UK government has given France a large sum of money to try and stop the small boat intersection without seeing results so far, Berman said: [France] Working for the UK… you can’t prevent all of them [small boats] But we are doing our best. ”
The state visit is a “soft power” opportunity to strengthen French visits to strengthen Britain’s connections in trade, diplomacy and defense over uncertainty about the US stance on issues such as Ukraine’s military support, and a French visit has been set up.
The British French Summit on Downing Street on Thursday, hosted by Prime Minister Kiel, could also debate ways to stop the illegal transition on small boats across the channel.
Priorities and Macron are also expected to talk on the phone with other allies seeking to support future peace deals in Ukraine.
The start of the visit on Tuesday will see ceremonial glasses along with senior members of the royal family who are ready to greet French visitors and celebrate the “Entinte Cordialé” on the first French national visit since 2008.
Prince William and Catherine greet the French president and his wife as their plane lands at Raf Northalt.
King Charles and Queen officially welcome them at Days, built at Windsor Town Center.
Prior to the royal salute and military parade at Windsor Castle, there is a horse and political horse trade with a procession of horse-drawn carriages passing through Windsor.
On Wednesday, Macron will see the horse he gave to the late King Elizabeth II to mark her platinum jubilee in 2022.
The French president and his wife will be visiting the grave of the late Queen during their stay in Windsor.
The UK government has said it wants to “reset” post-Brexit ties with its European neighbors, and Macron’s visit will be a general supporter of its long-standing alliance with France.
Lawmakers and colleagues will be able to hear Macron as he gives a speech to Congressional home.
Advances in science have been highlighted during the visit, with examples of artificial intelligence and innovative technologies being shown to French visitors at Imperial College in London.
King Charles and Queen Camilla visited France in 2023, where they received a standing ovation for a speech to the French Senate.
He had given a strongly verbal message of support for Ukraine after the “terrifying” Russian invasion. The King also emphasized the “existential challenge” of climate change.
