Richard Chamberlain, the most famous actor for appearing in the NBC medical drama series Dr. Kildare, passed away in the 1960s.
He died Saturday night in Waimanalo, Hawaii, Oahu, of complications after stroke, spokesperson Harlan Bol tells TMZ.
Richard rose to fame at the age of 27 and hoped to abandon the façade of cute boys from all over the country by heading to England. There he played Hamlet at the Birmingham Repertoire Theatre, and surprised critics by starring in the BBC’s “Portrait of a Woman.”
And although he landed himself some notable film roles, including Petulia in 1968, Three Musketeers in 1973, The Music Lovers in 1971, and the 1977 drama The Last Wave in 1977, but he continued to shine the most in the miniseries.
He fawed fans to him after playing a romantic lead in the historic drama “The General” of the 1980s, and became a sex symbol following his role as a young troubled priest in the miniseries “The Horn Birds” at the age of 49. Richard won the Golden Globe as the best actor in his work in “The General” and Emmy nominations.
The multifaceted actor was also a successful recording artist who released four albums. He also flourished on Broadway, starring in shows such as “Blithe Spirit” in 1987, “My Fair Lady” in 1993, and “The Sound of Music” in 1999.

And despite his prolific success in the entertainment industry, Richard was clear about his true feelings when he last caught up with him in 2011. When asked what advice he gave about new generations of heart slobs like Justin Bieber and Zac Efron, he warned him to get out of “f**ked Up Business.”
Growing up in Beverly Hills, California with his parents and older brother named Bill, Richard originally dreamed of becoming an artist. However, he had a change of heart after joining a drama production at Pomona College. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
However, before he took his acting career to the next level, he served two years in the US military. He was stationed in South Korea and rose to the rank of sergeant.
Richard was survived by his former long-term partner and best friend Martin Lovett.
He died shyly on his 91st birthday at the age of 90.
RIP.
