Monrovia – Somali Army robs major towns from the extremists of Al Shabaab

The Army said the attacks on terrorist groups in the Medium Shovel area were “multi-faceted” and were carried out in cooperation with the Allied forces. Thousands of displaced people tackle a tragic shelter crisis in Ethiopia’s Amhara region

A new report reveals that around 15,000 displaced people live in a “significantly worsening” state at five sites in the Wolozone north and south of the Amhara region. This is due to an aging shelter that has been overcrowded and damaged. This notes that the report is not intended for extended use. The Amhara region continues to experience one of Ethiopia’s most complex humanitarian crises. This is driven primarily by displacements caused by conflicts from nearby areas.

Actors have expressed concern over a new increase in the death penalty

The pardoning country’s report shows that in 2024, executions around the world reached the highest level in almost a decade. This is for several African countries, including Dr. Congo and Nigeria, to consider reintroducing the death penalty. Rights advocates fear this could reverse years of progress. However, the report acknowledged that there is a slow, steady trend towards abolition across Africa. Chad abolished the death penalty for all crimes in 2020, and Sierra Leone and Malawi followed suit in 2021.

Dr. Congo repatriates Americans who have been imprisoned in an attempted coup
