Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatti said ties with the African continent have witnessed a major boost since President Abdel Fatta Elsizi took office in 2014.

In an interview with the Alcahera News Channel on the sidelines of Minster Abdelatti’s visit to Tanzania as part of the joint cooperation between the two countries, he added that Egypt’s presence in Africa includes not only political aspects, but economic, commercial and cultural fields.

“The establishment of the Egyptian Export and Investment Guarantee Agency in Africa is clear evidence of President Abdel Fatta El-Sisi’s direction to strengthen economic and trade relations with the African continent. The launch of a fundraising mechanism for implementing water and development projects in the Southern Nile River Basin country confirms Egypt’s approach to help develop relations with the African continent.

The Foreign Minister explained that the Julius Niereredam project in Tanzania was a large-scale project and was first implemented by a consortium of Egyptian companies. This represents an important addition to the expertise and work of Egyptian companies on the African continent.

“The completion of this dam is one of the most prominent signs of the success of Egyptian companies, and has a wealth of experience in Egypt. The project represents a turning point in the activities of non-Egyptian companies, both in Africa, Europe and even Asia,” the Egyptian Foreign Minister pointed out.
