U.S. Marine General General Michael Langley traveled to Cote Dyvoir on April 24-25 to meet Cote Dyvoir and made a speech at the opening ceremony of Flintlock 25, Commando’s annual special operations exercise.
At the opening ceremony, General Langley emphasized the importance of joint exercises like Flintlock in preparing and increasing lethality among participating forces. He emphasized that this ability improvement is important in stopping terrorist organizations and other malignant actors operating from Africa.
Langley and US Ambassador Jessica Davis Ba met with Chiefs of Defence Minister Tene Birahima Oattara and Lieutenant General Rashi Dumbia, Côte de Iboir. The leader discussed opportunities for security cooperation to combat cross-border threats and highlighted the role of Ivory Coast as a security leader in the region.
Africom is one of the seven geographical combat orders in the United States and is responsible for military involvement in 53 African countries. Working with partners and allies, Commando supports the US government’s efforts in Africa to counter malicious actors and cross-border threats, respond to crisis, strengthen African security forces, promote US national interests, and promote regional security, stability and prosperity.
